"Wind" is a sculpture by Carol Gold and is in front of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, 1300 – 17th Street. It was the winner of a competition by the Central District Development Agency (later the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency) for public art at this building. Its original location was on the north side of the building next to the parking structure near "L" Street. It was later moved to its present location by the current building owner.

2nd Phase Brewing is located in the original 1941 Sam Woo Laundry building. The space boasts 4,200 square feet of beautiful high ceilings that holds a six-barrel brewing system. Enjoy a variety of beers brewed by the owner himself based on recipes he has developed throughout the years. Also, be on the lookout because 2nd Phase Brewing dedicates one barrel to an experimental series of beers or a regular rotation.
